ABOUT US

Based out of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, Dhamakapella is an all-inclusive competitive South Asian fusion a cappella group. We derive our influences from Indian classical, contemporary South Asian film, and Western pop genres.

Our group was created in 2005 by Mayank Prasad, a student at the university, along with fellow students Raksha Soore and Manoj Nair. Within three years, Dhamakapella grew into a sixteen-member group, with singers of various and diverse styles. Since we began competing in 2011, we have accrued 31 national titles and 45 individual awards at competitions across the United States, most recently obtaining our third consecutive title of National Champions at the All-American Awaaz 2024.

Our mission

Dhamakapella’s mission is to enrich the world of music through the blending of South Asian and Western music, fusing diverse musical elements to create innovative a cappella arrangements.

Our vision

Through captivating performances, Dhamakapella hopes to inspire, entertain, and educate audiences around the world about South Asian culture and music.
